Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies

Psychedelics are all the rage right now! The war on drugs halted research on how these substances could be used for medical purposes and to improve lives. Can psychedelics be scary or dangerous? Absolutely. Not every drug is for every person, the same way not every medication, not every food, not every – insert your favorite thing – is for everyone.

Thanks to some really motivated and dedicated folks, we are able to study how psychedelics can help us again. MDMA, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms are only some of the options that have been reopened. Research is currently being done using psychedelics to treat depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, eating disorders, substance use disorders, end of life anxiety, racial trauma and many other conditions. Some localities have even decriminalized certain psychedelics. We’re in Virginia though. Our access to legal or decriminalized psychedelics is limited, so be safe. Ketamine and cannabis are legal psychedelics you can obtain from a licensed prescriber. Interested in being in joining a clinical trial? Follow the link to find out more:

I’ve been interested in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies since I first learned about them in the early 2000s. I always thought this was out of reach for me because I wasn’t interested in being a doctor or a clinical psychologist. Then the pandemic hit, and me and almost everyone else in the world found themselves with a lot of spare time. I learned about the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS). In 2023, I completed a Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research from CIIS. Since then, I’ve participated in various training programs including MAPS MDMA Therapy Training Program and Ketamine- Assisted Therapy trainings. I truly believe in the power that these medicines hold for our individual and collective healing. But again...not every medicine is for every person.
